PRESTAGEN® has developed an original multiplex PCR technique called PLEXAMP® (MultiPLEX AMPlification).
PLEXAMP® is based on simultaneous PCR amplification of several DNA fragments and their quantitative analysis on a genetic analyzer. This proprietary technology allows the detection of quantitative alterations of DNA fragments of all sizes. Some of these alterations are undetectable by the usual methods of genetic analysis based on amplification by PCR and sequencing of the nucleic acids.
The PLEXAMP® method, which can be applied to any gene or any chromosomal region, generates “a molecular profile” indicating the copy number of one or several genes.
This performance is ensured by specific and optimized PCR primers design, reaction buffer, and PCR conditions. Contrary to other similar methods, PLEXAMP® is a one step technique (starting from a DNA sample) which can be used either as single test or high-throughput assay.
PRINCIPLES
Quick, easy, one single step procedure
Multiplex amplification of unique genomic sequences (amplicons).
Kinetic control of the PCR amplification process.
Use of fluorescent primers allowing a fragment analysis with most genetic analysis systems.
Quantitative analysis by comparing DNA profiles
